2012 East Coast Trip: Day 7 - NYC

New York City day 2!....This day went a little more smoothly. We didn't have an agenda, so we were able to walk everywhere (no public transportation :)) By the end of the day I had almost 30,000 steps on my pedometer!...A little over 12 miles.

First on the list was trying a New York City hot dog. After googling 'where is the best place for a hot dog in NYC,' we ended up at Gray's Papaya. I know the name is a little confusing, but they are also known for their papaya drinks. I mean, who wouldn't put hot dogs with papaya drinks?.. Highly recommend their hot dogs!

Next, we walked down to ground zero (less than a week before 9/11). What an experience, probably my favorite part of NYC. The memorial's perimeters have all of the names of the people that died either in the specific building or in the plane that hit. They also included the names of the victims from the previous terrorist attack in 1993. There are two memorials, one for each building.

The only tree that survived 9/11.

We then took the Staten Island Ferry to get a few pictures of the Statue of Liberty :) It was currently being worked on, and they were not allowing anyone inside.

The end of the day was spent eating dessert at Crumbs Bake Shop and dinner at 2nd Ave Deli...in that order :) The cupcakes at Crumbs were AMAZING.

Last pictures of NYC!

Goodbye NYC! You were full of lots of people, exciting adventures, and many miles walked!

Next stop...Boston!
